I am in the market of used XC90 2.5T. I called around to find out the price of replacing the timing belt and half of the auto shops said that they couldn't do it because they don't have a special tool. Is this really the case or are they just want to use an excuse instead of saying, I can't do the job because it is too difficult?

 

There is no special tool for replacing just the timing belt unless they intend to lick the back of the cams which is not needed for st belt replacement.. A lot of shops don't like working on volvos so that might just be the case.

 

At least they are not Audi...
