Default Squeaky Brakes

I have a 2007 XC 90 V8. Since, last two years I am experiencing problem with squeaky brakes and it is annoying. I always take my Volvo to Dealership for service and any work. The brakes are OE and after 4-5 months of replacement, they start to squeak and it's loud and only when vehicle is close to stopping (not at high speeds). Volvo changed my brakes in warranty and 5 months after, it starts to squeak again. This is despite the fact that brake pads still have more than half the life left. I have tried using spray brake cleaners from Canadian Tire. They work for a day or two the most. I have started to believe that the brakes have quality issues. Brakes do not squeak on a wet weather day.
I am considering getting brakes from non Volvo shop this time, Kal Tires or some one local. Any suggestions?

squealing is usually vibrating/resonating, i'd try putting some anti squeal paste on the back of the pad where it contacts the bracket.

My 1997 Volvo 850 front and back brakes were replaced in 2014 and they continue to squeak. I had them done at a local repair place that I trust. He says that they are safe and no problems. The squeaking is awful. My car is 18 years old. How can i get this fixed without spending a fortune and going to a Volvo dealership?

I agree with ES6T. I have a 95 850T, owned since new. I tried after market pads and went back to OEM Volvo. Also note the rear pads are supposed to have a metal shim to reduce the noise. I'm betting the shim was either not installed or installed dry. Start with the rear pads and install new shims, use brake grease as directed and reinstall the pads. No special tools required for doing the rear brakes on the 850. For the fronts you need a 7mm hex key... Way nicer than my S40 with the twist and compress calipers!! All said if you do your own work, its less than $10...

There are no shims on the XC90 pads
