Default Squeal coming from engine compartment 2008 xc90

Hi, First time posting. My daughter's xc90 recently started squealing recently from the front of the motor near the pulley system. I have heard this before on other cars and it was typically the belt tensioner.

On her car, when she accelerates the sound goes away but when she coasts or comes to a stop it gets loud.

Does this sound like a belt tensioner? Should I replace this and the other 2 pulleys that arent part of a component (steering pump, a/c, etc).

Does anybody have a procedure or link to a video for this replacement?

could be the tensioner, the pulley or one of the accessories. Which engine does your car have?

She has the 3.2L. Looks like belts, tensioners, etc are all on the driver side.

After digging into this a bit more I feel that I am able to do this job with about 60 dollars with a parts.

Fischer Tensioner
Idler pulley
Serpentine Belt

will need to remove Intake box and fuse box for more room

19mm wrench on tensioner to remove pressure

loosen A/C compressor and brackets and power steering reservoir to move out of way
disconnect water pump from pulley system to allow new serpentine belt
remove tensioner
remove idler pulley
replace tensioner with pin to lock it in position to not put tension on belt
route new belt in place
refasten A/C compressor and brackets
refasten water pump
install idler pulley

reinstall intake box and fuse box

does that sound about right? missing anything?

sounds about right - its good to follow the Youtube vids or search for some posts talking through the procedure. You may also want to use a mechanic's stethescope or similar to listen and pinpoint the sound just in case its one of the accessories making the noise.

The Only problem here was the Oil trap. I wish I would have known that. Pulled the oil fill plug and the noise goes away. No pulleys or tensioners, just the oil trap.

I wonder if there is a easy fix for that after spending $100 changing the tensioner and idler pulley/belt.
