Default Steering wheel adjustment lever

Hi folks,
I would greatly appreciate some help. I have a '05 XC90 V8. Do I really need to loosen the steering column and slide it over in order to replace the steering wheel position adjustment lever? Thanks in advance.

Well OK. I went to the Volvo web page parts schematic and found that there appear to only two bolts holding the steering column to the subframe. I have two concerns: First, those two bolts are quite a way back on the steering column. It looks like the steering wheel assembly weight plus the weight of the column itself would make it extremely difficult to reattach the column. Second, I noted there was a substantial coiled spring wound on the bolt that separates the brackets that support the plate that bolts to the sub-frame. It looks like this might be the torque point for the spring that counter balances the steering column. It alto looks like that spring might force the attachment plate 180 degrees out of alignment if the bolts are removed. Could someone please comment on these possibilities and give me the correct procedure for shifting the steering column? Thanks.
