I have a quick question about my new to me XC90 since my XC70 was rear ended and taken from me way to soon. I didnt really check the radio out during the test drive because I wanted to hear the car. Anyway, being a sports fan, i listen to AM and the AM will not pick-up. no reception, no static just nothing. Everything else works on the stereo without issue. Just curious if I am missing something or there is a disconnect somewhere I can check. Thanks for any assistance

 

The AM on my wife's 2007 XC90 quit a couple of years ago. Everything else works. The dealer says the fix is to replace the entire radio for a lot of money. We just do without AM. Unfortunately the Volvo radios have a record of a high incidence of this failure.

 

I don't know about Volvo XC90 but when my 1998 BMW 528i did this (no AM, but FM OK), the culprit was the center pin in the antenna cable, where it connects to the rear of the radio unit:

Hope you find some similar fix. Focus on the center pin of the antenna cable.
