We test drove a 2013 Volvo XC90 AWD today and really liked it, except for one thing. It sounded really loud. The internal engine noise sounded like a truck. Is this normal for these vehicles? It's a 6 cylinder with only 6,300 miles on it.

 

it isn't particularly loud. it may have an exhaust leak or something.

 

I wouldn't think an exhaust leak of this early age is possible, but never say never, get it checked.

Depends on what you compare, if you have been driving Lexus, Volvo do sound much noisier.

 

Test drove the XC90 again today. It is noisy, but, like the previous poster said, I've been used to driving my Toyota Rav4 and test driving the Lexus. After test driving two XC90's, I'm realizing it's just how they sound.
