Default Transponder key dead

Had 2 extra keys made about a year ago..... All 3 keys worked without any issues up until this morning. Now one of the keys I had made doesn't work....I don't get that immobilizer message....key unlocks the car.... turns all the way over and unlocks the steering column, just doesn't start it.

* I've never had a key fob. Just the original and 2 extra keys.
Anyway, I'm 700 miles from home...where the other 2 keys are.

Any help would be very much appreciated!

Thank you !

A couple quick thoughts... the immobilizer is embeded in the key on one side and needs to be very close to the key lock to be recognised. Try turning the key around the other way before putting in the ignition, the small difference may orient the immobilizer closer to be recognized by the lock. Another possibility is the mechanical cable from the shifter to the key lock maybe stuck. That can usually be an easy fix if you take console side panels off.
