Volvo XC90 2019
We have two new 2019 Volvo’s xc90 and xc60 T6. We love our cars and want to keep them past 100k miles. I am now hearing that the piston rings will go between 50k to 100k miles probably on both cars. Is this still an issue on the even newest Volvo’s from 2017 till now? Anyone seeing the new engines having this problem? Will an extended warranty cover it?

I just took my car in for service (approx 7oK miles), the engine light was coming on (not sure why), and was losing oil mysteriously. The service writer did say my car (XC60) has an issue with pistons and rings. In order for warranty to cover it the entire engine has to be dismantled, the inspector has to come, all this at my cost if no issue is found ($8000). He said they have one car in the shop for this now, its been there over a month.
