Default Volvo XC90 T5 intermittent missfireP0300 (P0302 & P0305) please help

hello everyone i really need some help i recently bought a Volvo XC90 with the 2.5L T5 Engine this is my daily runner for the kids and would really appreciate some help

this is the problem on the OBDII

intermittent missfire P0300 (P0302 & P0305) Cylinders 2 & 5

here is what ive replaced so far

Spark plugs (Official Bosch Volvo torqued to 22 ft/lbs and gaped to specification)

Ive replaced all 5 coils and the fuel rail and injectors have all been replaced recently

also just replaced the oil with castrol synthetic 5W 30W

but the problem is still present

ive read it could be the crank positioning sensor but i would like some more opinions

thanks for your time

Default Misfire in Cold Weather

quick note ive noticed the engine light only comes on displaying the misfire

code during extreme cold weather conditions it has been -20c recently and has

come back up to -2c and the engine light has gone off would cold weather be

the cause of the misfire or should i go buy a compressor and a cylinder leakage tester ???

thanks for your help

Cold weather won't cause a misfire in two specific cylinders.

Default Misfire

ok thanks for all your help so far , here is another question,

if the coils, spark plugs, fuel injectors and rails are not the problem

and there is cylinder leakage.... what would be the primary cause of this

what would i have to replace to solve the issue or is there allot of different

things it could be, What are the most common problems with the T5 in

relevance to my issue? new cylinder head and gaskets maybe?

here is some more information ...

when i turn the car over and sometimes get the misfire code there is a strong

smell of gas fumes from the exhaust as though it was not combusted

also the engine nearly has 200,000 km

any help would be greatly appreciated as

i would love to save this beautiful car

thanks for your time

kind regards

Chris

Yes, valves are the most likely problem. The cylinder leakage test will determine where the leakage is. You can also pull the injectors and spray some carb cleaner on the valves when doing the cylinder leakage test to see how much is leaking past the intake valves.

Default Recent Diagnostics

hi everyone , today i plugged the OBD II in again and came up with the same error codes as before in regards to the misfire in cylinders 2 & 5 , but i also found this ( open-loop due to insufficient engine temperature ) can anyone tell me what this could be possibly a faulty sensor?
