Default Warning Signs of Transmission Failure

Has anyone documented/recall the warning signs the transmission failures that the XC90 seems to suffer?

We have an '05 V8 with just under 70,000 miles. When cold it seems to skip a moment between 1st and 2nd gear. Best way to describle it would be it feels like a double shift. This is the wifes' grocery getter and I do not drive it much but noticed it over the weekend.

I also noticed odd upshift/downshifting when slowing down. Every so often when braking at about 10MPH it would upshift to 1500-1600 RPM's and then downshift to idle speed.

Not ready to have this truck self destruct.

Any experiences anyone else had had that they would like to share would be great.

Thanks

I think we will start with a flush. Good idea nd it can not hurt.

It does not matter if you are accelerating "hard" from a stop, say 3000+ RPM's or a slower acceleration, that double take between first and second happens.
