Water sloshing sound upon acceleration
I have an 04 XC90. After stopping and then upon taking off, we hear the sound of water sloshing around somewhere and it sounds like it comes from the top of the car. I am also having a constant condensation on the passenger side of the windshield. Is it possible water is actually trapped in the car somewhere? Anyone ever heard of such a problem? I sounds like the water moves from front to back or vice versa.[

The most likely cause is the sunroof drains are clogged. And it causes the water to back up and drain into the car. It is probrably all the water under the carpet making noise as you wont feel it being wet fore awhile b/c the carpet sits pretty high from the floor. I would get it gutted out and dried out b4 you have mold and mildew issues.
Alot of times the sunroof drain hose pops off and leaks water inside then it works its way into the like middle of the frame rail under the seats.
You will need to pull the A-pillars(plastic panels inside the windsheild) and make sure the drains are clean. I use a small piece of wire and fish it through to make sure all is clear. Then I install the hose and use a wire tie to help hold the hose in.
You could either use a vacuum to remove the water or drill a small hole on the floor pan and allow it to drain. Which would also prevent it from building up in there again.

Is the A pillar the panel inside with the hand hold on it? How does is remove? Today it rained and for the first time I have water inside the car. Please help
On each end of the handle you will see a cover. You need to pop the 2 covers out per handle. Then remove the screws.
Next I with the door open pull the rubber strip from the top of the body area where the door closes to the bottom. Then you should be able to pop the cover off and work it out.

Your advice is right on regarding the sunroof drain leaks. We took it into the dealer today and they said it was a design flaw, they would re-route the drains and increase their size. Also, pull the seats and dry out carpet although I didn't notice it being wet. The overhead was wet and the A pillar section. They quoted us $300 which I consider excellent. Oh, and also that Volvo would probably not help with the cost due to increasing bad economic situations.
