Question Would you purchase a buyback vehicle?

I'm looking to buy a 2016 XC90. Found one that priced a good bit lower than similarly equipped ones, but it has a branded title because it was a manufacturer buyback. The reason given on the CarFax report is "Center information screen is inoperative." (I can see the screen is working now.)

The dealer selling it says, "This vehicle was a manufacturer buyback because of software related problems. The vehicles run off the software and all software has been updated to fix said problems. Volvo has given this vehicle lifetime software updates due to this buyback."

Would you consider buying such a vehicle?

Sure. The early ones did have a lot of problems, most of which were software related.

Depends on the discount, I would say no less than 10k below a new one.The branded title will follow the vehicle for life obviously and hence diminish the value as the years go buy. I would also make sure the dealer throws in a extended warranty 10-100k at no cost. This type of vehicle would need to be a long term purchase to gain the value from it.

I like the idea of using the savings to invest in an extended warranty. Another option would be to lease the car at a reduced price while its on the factory warranty.
