XC90 2.5T 2005 Loses Power
Wife is on busy California freeway and loses power at high speed, almost full tank of gas, car shuts down, STEERING WHEEL LOCKS!!!! Thank God she was able to get it to the side of the road. It started right back up, she drove it to mechanic. No fault codes except rear fuel sensor. This happened one month before but not this dramatic, and it started right back up making wife think she was losing her mind. A small valve was replaced due to fault code and he cleaned out system of build up. Obviously wasnt the real problem. Transmission is intact. Mechanic is baffled thinks it must be either fuel pump going bad, or the CEM. He has had it for two days trying to recreate the issue with a fuel pressure guage bolted on. Other mechanic thinks its the sender. I dont know what it is but have seen many posts on web about CEM. Last year we replaced the Turbo. I have sunk $1200 into it in the last month. I am thinking about trading this in, on a 2008 xc90 or newer 3.2liter V6 on advice of mechanic who says that engine is all Sweden without GMC gremlins. Any advice before I pour another 2 or 3 grand into this money pit??
