Default XC90 2.5T OEM Exhaust

Hello,

I am new to the forum as I just acquired a 2003 XC90. I was aware it needed an exhaust and ordered one from a Volvo dealer. I was hoping someone could post the OD of the rear muffler pipe or a description of the Volvo clamp for this model. I am waiting for both the front and rear mufflers to arrive and am now wondering if I made a mistake passing on the $68 pipe clamp from the dealer. The dealer could not indicate why the clamp was so expensive but thinking about it over the weekend if it is a stainless V clamp or a custom sized band clamp there may be another delay in my future. They cannot be pricing a normal U clamp for that much.

Thank you for any input on the replacement "factory" exhaust you can offer.

Just to close the loop, if someone else is looking for similar info.

The factory replacement exhaust front and rear muffler for the AWD 2.5T come as two parts. Neither pipe is belled or flanged. You need a heavy band clamp to install them as intended.

The OEM camp is made by Norma and is 60mm (about 2-3/8"). The entire replacement process was about an hour in total and quite simple.

Default Cost of rear muffler?

Can you share what you paid for the rear muffler?

No problem,

The front volvo muffler included one side of the Converter flange with metric studs and about 6" of 60mm pipe. The cost before shipping was $296 and listed as fitting 03 to 07 5/6cyl models.

The rear volvo muffler had dual outlets, the welded heatshield for the spare tire and the pipe from the rear to the front muffler. That pipe ends just in front of the safety strap. My opinion is that the replacement has been improved since the factory 2003 exhaust was installed. The seam for the 2 halves of the rear muffler does not cup upward catching road dirt. The hanger pins are not formed metal creating a cup for water and dirt. The new one has a single rod welded under the pipe and is stronger and less prone to rust. The cost was $486 and was listed as fitting 03 to 06 5/6cyl.

Shipping was $81 for both pcs in the same box. it was rated as weighing 50lbs. The order was from swedishautoparts . com

The converter gasket was 3.00 from the local dealer and the band clamp was $73 from the local dealer.

Although I did not try this I bet one could use a 60mm id pipe and 2 normal HD clamps for about $10.
