Default xc90 cylinder head and head gasket blow

hello all, I am new to this forum and also new to volvo.

I'm in my 70s and therefore not very computer savvy so please forgive any errors. I have inherited a volvo 2005 xc90 T6 MR A/T

The car has been diagnosed by a garage to have a blown head gasket, but they dont want to repair what they consider a too old a car, and also their prices are very high.

I have no choice but to do the job myself, but have been unable to find a workshop manual to guide me through it, even haynes dont do one for this model.

Can anybody help me find an illustrated manual or instructions.

thanks in advance

guess you will hear a lot from me while i am stumbling through this project

Peter

YouTube has a number of videos. Just go to YouTube and enter "Volvo head gasket" and see if your engine is covered. Also, eBay has a number of listings for a service manual.

Haha! Since when is an 2005 XC90 considered an "old car"?! That's a money making car for us techs. As stated before there are plenty of videos here on the inter-webs.

thanks, i looked at alldata, but unfortunately they would only deal with professionals.

anybody out there with any other advice? youtube didn't reveal anything. There is plenty of info for the 2.5 inline 5 and the v8, but not the 2.9
straight 6 turbo.

Alldata does sell individual subscriptions meaning only for a specific car. Here's the link: ALLDATAdiy.com Leading Source of Factory Automotive Repair Information
