xc90 hand brake adjustment
Hi there it there anyone that can tell me where the hand brake adjustment is in my XC 90 D5 SE 2008. If you could supply or direct me to any instructions on how it can be done that would be greatly appreciated. my XC 90 foot brake (handbrake) isn't really very strong currently and I would love to know how to do it. Took it to my local garage today and after loads of huffing and puffing from the mechanic I left a bit annoyed
Your help would be greatly appreciated

i think the xc90 uses the usual ATE type e brake found on many euro cars (mercedes, porsche, etc.) which is adjusted by removing the rear wheels and turning a star wheel adjuster at each wheel with a screwdriver (through a hole in the rotor) to move the e brake pads closer to the drum. it is not easy to do especially the first time because you're working blind. you tighten it until wheel won't turn with the e brake off, then back off a little until it turns freely. any mechanic who works on German cars will very familiar with it.

Hello
First post on here and in search of help adjusting the parking brake of 2009 xc90. I found this thread and wondered if anyone could help with advice on how you set about adjusting the brake? With the pedal fully depressed the brake is doing next to nothing.
Thanks
Some background
Kwikfit did a "brake health check" over the weekend, after the car had been serviced by Glasgow Volvo (Taggarts) earlier int he week, on Tuesday, with an ineffective parking brake. The parking brake was not part of the routine service and so wasn't touched by Taggarts. I'd told them it was weak before the service and they responded after carrying out the service by telling me that it would cost 75 pound to "look at it." They sent the car back with the parking brake actually weaker than when I gave them the car. They also told me that all pads and discs needed changing and that it would cost around 700-800 pound. They'd look at the parking brake at the same time as doing the main brakes. Which was nice of them to assume. I looked at the brakes myslef with a great guy at Kwikfit and it was very obvious that the brakes had not even been opened up!
and in case anyone is interested in general feedback on Dealers...
This is the second service that Taggarts have done for me on this car and it's the second time that service has been below expectations. The first time the car came back with a slipping clutch and a wash bottle filled with nothing but water. In the middle of winter (a cold one at that this time last year) when the lack of any screenwash in it only became apparent at 4 in the morning when a bleary eyed Popeye1199 crawled out of his bed, safe in the knowledge that at the least the car was "good to go," before trying to get away from the house on time for a 3 hour journey to work....with a completely solid screenwash system, on half frozen roads, gritted, with road grime spray everywhere in the pitch black through Northumberland roads and Scottish motorways. Oh yes, I was really chuffed that Taggarts had done SUCH a good job that day. Don't know why I gave them a second chance really.
