hey guys. I'm an Owner of a 2005 Xc90 with a 4.4 V8. It has 214050 miles and just recently it started having low oil pressure lights come on at idle and and whenever I let off the throttle. The oil level is normal. I've been suggested flushing the oil system with sea foam and changing the oil to clear out sludge, and told to get a new oil pump. I'm just looking for some suggestions.

 

I'd start by changing the oil (do you use synthetic?) and installing an OEM oil filter - avoid after market "heavy duty" filters as they can restrict flow. If that doesn't help, you may need to have a shop drop the oil pan and check for any intake debris in the pick up. A Seafoam treatment may help with some of the passages - are there any signs of sludge looking in the oil filler cap (staining is normal)? Another consideration would be to test/replace the oil pressure sensor. It is possible the oil pump needs replacing given you have 200K miles.
