XC90 Spare Tire Cable Replace
Hi all:
I'm new to the forum. I have a 2013 xc90. I had to change my tire yesterday after a blowout.
After the change (and having new tire put on at the shop), the spare cable would not lower back down in order to put the spare back up. (The little wheel/bolt that you turn just seizes up and won't turn further).
I googled and saw that Volvo had a recall on this in 2015 (which ended last year). The information indicated that the fix was to put a spring in the winch housing to act as a separator so the cable would wind and unwind properly.
Well i called volvo, they entered my info and it turns out they did do the fix in 2015 when I had it in for service.
Now it is out of warranty. I don't wanna pay dealership to fix this issue.
i can buy the whole part for $40, but i need guidance on how to replace it.
im assuming the spring fix they did broke? (Does anyone know if you can see the spring on top of the housing? There's a part there that kinda looks like a safety pin I'm not sure if that's it).

Ok thanks.
What is this showing exactly? Removal of the whole unit?
Secondarily, if it is the spring that is broken, which supposedly volvo put on in 2015, is there anywhere i can get just that spring instead of the whole winch unit? Local junk yard has a unit i can get for $75...but, i don't even wanna do that if i don't have to.

Hi all
Ok I got a replacement part at junkyard.
Unfortunately the xc90 at the junkyard didn't have the 3rd row of seats.
On my xc90 the right rail for the 3rd row covers the winch and I can't get my old winch out.
Can anyone tell me how to get that rail off (or loose enough to be able to put in the new winch/hoist)?
Any help would be appreciated.
