Hi all. New to this forum and to this country. Funny enough, I just moved here from Sweden. Anyway - I'm just about to buy a xc90 v8 -06 and have read everything about this car including faulty valve design of the transmission and the CB issues (or did I get it wrong - was it on the v8?). When I took it for a test drive yesterday I thought I could feel a slight shudder on the 2:nd and third gear when I accelerated. Very minor though and it could actually just have been my imagination. My wife couldn't feel a thing.
Now, according to knowledgeable people like you, engine #6833 or slightly lower ( two different numbers out there) was apparently the last engine with the CB problem - but what about the faulty valve design. I've seen that transmissions with serial number starting with 06J or later have the newer design BUT looking at 'my' transmission - I could not see that kind of number. One was '060500120' - all numbers, neither a 'O' or 'D' after the '06'. the other numbers were - 30735597 , 4988 and 00250618125785.
Can any of you make sense of all these numbers and explain to me if I need to worry at all and spend my money on a psychiatrist for my imaginary problems .
