Default XC90 window issue in accessory mode

Hello,

I have a 2018 XC90 and since the past few months I've noticed that the windows won't roll down when the car is in the accessory mode. It works fine when the ignition is turned on. To be specific, the vehicle went for regular service back in May and they did a software update, so not sure if that caused the issue but the timeline is around the same time. I called Volvo service to book an appointment. They suggested that this could be a battery issue since it's a 2018 model and maybe it's time to change the battery. I got the battery checked at a local shop and they said it looks fine. I have a few weeks for my appointment so thought I'd check here meanwhile.

Any idea what could be causing this issue?

Thanks!

Any updates? I have a 2019 Volvo Xc40 that is doing the same thing. I left my DRLs on by accident for 6 hours so I'm thinking my battery may be the culprit. My radio works just not the windows.

Hi,

I am having the same issue with my 2018 S90. Volvo told me that this is normal after the last software update, however, this doesn’t make sense to me. Any updates on the issue?

After taking it to the dealership, it was discovered that the 2019 MY requires you to hold the start button for like 10 seconds (foot not on the brake) and it will put it in an "accessory" mode to allow operation of the windows. The service advisor was confused as well and it took the master Volvo mechanic a few minutes of playing with it so I assume it's not like that on a lot of models/years. They changed it for the 2020 because the loner car I had worked with one click of the start button like every other car I've driven. Maybe your 2018 is on the same system as the 2019 xc40.
