I punctured a tire with gravel a couple of weeks ago. Needless to say, I took it to Wal-Mart because it was the only place opened on a Sunday. They couldn't figure out how to get the lug nuts off of the thing. Said that they had a Volvo in earlier the previous week and it was the same thing. After searching the net, I figured out that the nuts had these cheap plastic covers on them to look all shiny. Had to get the tool out of the back with the red rubber tip and pry the things off, then return to the repair shop. I even called the Volvo 800 no. No idea/solution. I'm just glad that I wasn't stranded on the side of the road trying to figure all of this out. Just a warning for anyone who isn't aware of these little cosmetic idiosyncracies. It was enough to make Jesus cuss.

 

Were these covers the kind that just slide over the factory nuts and can be purchsed for under $20? I am looking for a cheaper option to cover up my rusty lug nuts and have seen these covers on Ebay, etc. Thanks for your input. I would not have thought of that problem.
