This is a view of the crankshaft bearing carrier and crankshaft end, taken from inside the right front wheel well. The blue line shows the location of the timing mark on the corner of the cast rib. The green box outlines the splines on the crank which have been joined at the end to make a double spline 'key' for the timing belt pulley.

This is the cropped crankshaft timing belt pulley as viewed from the side that faces towards the engine. the blue lines point out the timing marks both on the inside face of the pulley (not very helpful as it gets hidden during installation) and the outside tab, which is really hard to see when the pulley is installed unless the accessory belt pulley is removed.

This is the crankshaft timing belt pulley as viewed from the side that faces away from the engine. Green box points out 'keyway' for double spline on shaft. The timing mark is the little tab peeking out from the pulley in the middle of the Blue box.

The small engraved line between the two cogs is the front camshaft timing mark. It is located just above, and in line with the blue line on the photo.

Shop-make S80 crank holder tool I got the hole location and a rough curve to follow by using the vibration-dampener as a template and a sharpie to rough out the lines. The curve was cut with a jigsaw and a metal cutting blade.

Timing mark diagram The diagram for the crankshaft pulley is not particularly helpful, as the actual timing marks are between the pulley and the motor, and also hidden behind the accessory belt pulley. See the other pictures for more detail.
