I have a 2003 S60 with 22,000 miles on it. Yesterday, the warning message system on the dashboard displayed "ENGINE SYSTEM SERVICE REQUIRED", and the orange triangle lite with the exclamation point in the middle was on. This seems to be different from the typical "service required" message that shows up at scheduled intervals. This morning, the message didn't show up but I took the car to the dealer anyway for them to check it out. They claimed that this message was because I haven't taken the car in for regular services (i.e 5,000, 15,000), and they wouldn't look to see if anything was wrong. I do my own oil changes and what ever else needs to be done. I find it hard to believe that a warning light and message would come on just for this purpose on a car with only 22,000 miles and still under warranty. Has anyone else had this message come on and if so, what was the cause of it.
I'm very skeptical of this dealer and their service department, as everytime I've brought my car in, they've tried to sell me something I didn't need and I've seen them do it to other peolpe
Thanks for any help you can give
