I am having the same freakin problem...when I put it in reverse, sometimes it just dies on me...and I hear a loud hiss when I start the car in the morning...I have a wagon 86 240...I remember kicking the fuse panel a couple of days ago...I'll check for fuse 4...

Sounds like a bad vacuum leak.

vacuum leak? The FPR has a little hose going to the intake manifold...that tends to come off once in a while...it does not have a hose clamp on it...

thanks, but what about the loud hissing noise when I start it in the morning by the fuel pump?

A snake? cat? not sure

I thought you were refering to a hissing noise inside the cabin, like a vacuum leak with the climate controls ...

Are you sure it's in the fuel pump area? The only thing I can think of there is a fuel leak or a failed evaporative emissions canister. In some cases the hose to the canister can come off around the fuel tank and, combined with a bad valve in the canister, can cause a constant vacuum leak underneath the car.

yes, from the pump area...every morning when I start the car it will "spool up" or sounds like the pump needs to shoot a lot of "initial gas" making a hissing noise then a couple of seconds later it will stop...the car is kind of lagging...I drive 70 miles a day, even though it is a lot I feel that it is using too much gas...

new
plugs
wires
distributor cap and rotor
intake manifold gasket
exhaust manifold gasket
Cylinder head gasket
clean throttle body
clean flame trap
Volvo dealer oil & filter
Fuel injection cleaner...

Dam I am freaking broke!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
