Default 2009 Volvo s40 starting problem

My s40 has a hard time starting. It takes about 4-6 seconds on a cold start but when it does it works and runs fine. I changed the fuel pressure sensor and still nothing. I’ve been seeing some similar problems with older models but their solution was the fuel pump regulator. I don’t think the 2009 s40 has a fpr. Well it does i think but it’s combined with the fuel pump and I really don’t want to spend 300 on that just yet. I’m making this post to see if there is another fix to this before I drop 300 on the pump. I don’t know what it is if someone can please help me out.

The most common problem is a leaky injector. It's dead easy to check though - just turn the ignition to run without starting it, then back off, then back to run a couple times. That'll initiate the fuel pump's priming sequence. if the car then starts right up, you know it's because the fuel rail is losing pressure somewhere. The most common place IS through a leaky injector, but of course there could be other places (most of which you'll smell).

Alright I’ll check the injector out thanks. I did the on and off thing and it seems like it started right away definitely way faster than other tries. I don’t smell anything gas heavy so it could be that the injector is leaking. Do you happen to know where they are located?

Sounds like you've got it nearly figured out...

I long ago sold my Volvo(s) but it's easy enough to find the injectors. They live attached to a big(gish) metal tube that's connected to the (kind of obvious) fuel line. Don't recall offhand the layout of my V50 (which might not be the same as yours).
