Where to get Zerex & Mobil 3309?

RE: Where to get Zerex & Mobil 3309?
Well, I am going to open another can of worms here but I religiously have my coolant and transmission flushed by my Volvo DEALER every two years irrespective of mileage. The Volvo dealer also vends Mazda and G.M. products. My Volvo is a c70 with the Asin/Warner transmission that there is so much controversy about here on the forum. My DEALER...........yes, dealer and not independent uses G. M. transmission fluid in my auto. I spent a considerable amount of time with both the mechanic and the service writer (both of whom have many years at this dealership) and they are adament that the "special" Volvo or Mobil trans fluid is not necessary. Now, my c70 is out of warranty now but I have yet to experience any issues with the transmission since 2002.........the year of my c70.
So, I am with TECH who has both been employed at a Volvo DEALERSHIP and currently at an independent and has always used the G.M. transmission fluid. However, I do believe that you should do as you believe and if Mobil is what you want, then go with it however in my circumstance, I will continue to use G.M. fluids in the radiator and the transmission. Incidently, I use ATE super blue for my annual brake fluid changes..........rotated on alternate years with yellow ATE so I then know when the old fluid is flushed and the new is in the system.

The Zerex G-05 is the coolant to use if youdon't want to runthe OEM coolant. It can be found at most auto parts stores. The Advanced Auto by me had some last I checked. I think Walmart even carries it.
The 3309 fluid is a different story. Best thing to do is tolook for your nearest ExxonMobil distributor. They usually carry it but you may have to buy it by the case. Another option is to get it from AVLube.com. Lastly, Ford, GM, Mazda, Toyota all have their own part numbers for the same fluid. I have used the Toyota T-IV fluid in mine. It is the same as the 3309 bottled fluid.

Well, if you want the 'good stuff' that Volvo sells..................go to your BMW dealer. They too sell the high-end coolant. However, as my earlier posting indicated, there are alternatives that are evidently approved by Volvo...........ie: material that my dealer uses.

Toyota T-IV was about $4.50/qt if I recall. I don't understand why you can't find the Zerex. However, both Ford and Dodge use a G-05 coolantas OEMso that is something you could do also. Its not worth driving around too much because the Volvocoolant is around $20/gallon. You only need one gallon. So its only about $10 more than the Zerex. As reg mentioned, the BMW coolant is the same stuff too.

Why pay $10 when AV has it for $50 a case? $65 delivered to my area. Also found Zerex at AutoZone! Also they have a $10 off 2-gal good until 3/10! (or $5 off one, 2-gal limit) You have to ask for the coupon most likely! You can also order Zerex at NAPA.

Reg, I respect your comments on the GM trans fluid. So the "dealer" is changing AW transmissions automatics with a 5 speed with Dexron III? Or is he using the GM part number below which is for AW transmissions.
I cannot for the life of me understand the dealer using a non approved fluid in something as costly as a transmission. Can you name the dealer?
