Default transmission fluid JMS= mobil 1 3309 = new mobil 1 synthetic?

Hello I drive 05 v50i and have read lots about the volvo fluid being rebadged mobil 1 3309. I also read somewhere that the new mobil 1 synthetic is ok too. Is this correct information and has anyone tried it? I would have just bought the 3309 but no one sells it locally. The synthetic however is sold locally.

I've written to Mobil on its lubes website but don't yet have the answer. I'll post it or a link when I hear from Mobil. Their answers seems pretty straightforward.

I "highly" recommend the mobil 1 full synthetic, expensive but worth every single cent. I put it in our 01 V70 and it has totally transformed the car. To me it seems like an ATF shouldn't make that much difference but it did so I put it in my 850 turbo and so far . It's the most expensive but this is one place I will always refuse to compromise, even though I'm very frugal. No I don't work or have any affiiliations with Mobil.

I believe the 01 v70 calls for a different fluid than the v50.
