XC 70 2006 More Info on Using Oil
Thanks for your reply.
No smoke from the tailpipe.
I have the oil and filter changed every 7500 miles and use Mobil 1 or synthetic Castroil.
About two oil changes ago, the dealer screwed up and put in regular (non-synthentic) oil. They said it would make no difference for one oil change. MAybe it did?
This help?
I am not trying to diagnose as it is udner warranty (I had the 100,000 mile warranty) but just want to know if it is withini the acceptable range or is Volvo blowing smoke at me.

It would appear that it is consuming the oil and MAYBE sludge is forming. Wether or not Volvo says it is acceptable, It would not be to me. I would run shorter OCIs, for two or three changes, 3-5k. before the next oil change I would run a engine flush and change product through, I prefer Amsoil, but most dealers have BG products available that are good as well. after the two or three short oil change intevals see what happens.

Hi, my 2005 xc70 2.5T consumes a quart each 3,500 miles. In my case think is normal, the car goes always very fast (by freeways), part goes for the oil return pipe (a typical small leak that some day will fix), part by the intercooler (itīs a petrol turbo) and the remainder will consume it.
Run Castrol synthetic 5-30w A1 every 10.000 miles. I read cases of T5 or R that consumes even more going really fast, if itīs not your case you should be in the limit of the acceptable range…
Sorry for my Spanish English…
