Default Tranny removal

I've not had any luck locating a transmission removal tutorial. What is the best approach for removal? It looks like there is not enough clearance to slide it out the drivers side and the subframe won't allow it to drop out from below. Do I loosen the subframe and lower it while supporting the motor with a hoist or is it necessary to pull the motor/tranny assembly as a whole? I'm swapping in a used unit since I cannot shake the p0734 code. Any and all advice is appreciated.

Drop the engine/transmission/subframe assembly. It sounds like more work, but it's really not, and less likely to put you in positions that are extremely difficult to work through. It's what I did with my '98.

It also gives you easier access to discover other parts that need replacement like mounts. (Which I did, too.)
