1998 Volvo V70 acceleration issues
Hello forum members. I am having an issue with my 1998 Volvo V70 where when I first start the car up, the engine will accelerate slowly (till it tacks out) until I hit the brake. This problem will continue as I'm driving intermittently as well. It feels almost like the accelerator is stuck, but this can't be the case because as soon as I hit the brake it stops accelerating. I have tried cleaning the throttle body (which was dirty) and also lubing the accelerator cable. This problem started soon after I replaced some cracked vacuum lines for the evap system. I don't know if this is related to vacuum or completely unrelated to me replacing those lines. Please help. Any and all feedback is appreciated.

The vacuum that is provided to the cruise control is dumped when you hit the brake. I would suggest you mechanically unhook cruise control just above the accelerator pedal and see if that solves the problem.
If it does, I would guess that the cruise transducer is leaking through, but that's just a guess.
P.S. I guess you could cut off its vacuum source under the hood instead. That way you wouldn't have to be a contortionist.

Thanks. I forgot to mention that it only does it on cold starts. Which is very strange. You know how the vehicle normally goes through all its emissions stuff when you first start cold and idles at about 1100 rpm for 30 seconds or so then goes down ? That's when the vehicle will tack out unless I hit the brake. I will unhook the vacuum lines to the cruise though and see what happens. That's for the help.
