Default 2000 V70 XC misfire or hesitation at cruising

Hello,

I'm new to the forum and to working on this car. I'm experiencing a subtle lag or hesitation (possibly misfire) while cruising (50-60mph). It occurs with the AC on and off, but worse with it on. Car accelerates fine. No current engine codes. Recently replaced spark plugs. Any ideas? Thanks!

I had this happen on a 1998 V-70. At around 60 MPH it would feel like misfire, no codes displayed. Thought it was a throttle control issue, turned out to be a cracked distributor cap. Not sure it they still had these in 2000 though.

Can we get any more information. Is it lacking power? Does it do it once or multiple times like a misfire/running rough, bogging down? Is it an automatic (maybe you're feeling the Torque Converter Clutch kicking in)?

i have the same issue in my 1998 V70. my car has a distributor, but i had a late 1999 that didn't, it had a coil at each spark plug, which works better than having a distributor. i replaced the cap, rotor, plug and wires. i have two other issues, the battery light comes on at high RMP and a warning code associated with check eng light. the code indicates lean mix in bank 1 which might be an O2 sensor. but i guess am going to replace the ignition coil to try to address the misfire at cruising speed. i am not going to use the bosh for $127 USD, instead i might try
Amazon Amazon
no brand name accept possibly Ena? i am also replacing the voltage regulator if i can't get it to function, with a Huco brand from Germany.

If you do have a distributer, check the cap, or just replace it and the rotor if original. The car I am working on now has 127K miles, and clearly never had these replaced.

On the previous '98 V-70 that misfired at 60MPH, I was still taking it to a pretty good indy erurocar mechanic. Took him a bit to figure it was the distributor cap. Some of the younger techs, even if good, barely know what one is. Us old timers remember they are a wear part and need to be replaced now and again. All those electrons erode the metal contacts after a while.

ramar, try rock auto, you get a choice of several grades of any given part, and you can pick the brand.
