Default 2000 V70 XC Turbo replacement tips

The turbo in this car is completely shot. Bearing noise> more noise> crazy noise> loss of almost all power,> copious amounts of oil burning> dealer agreement it's shot. I'm considering replacing it myself after getting time estimates of 4 to 8 hours from shops and dealers.
How difficult is job, where can I get procedure info, R and R tips, special tools list if any required, etc? While not an engine rebuilder I feel I can probably tackle this bolt on part job if prepared correctly.
Recommendations of part source and part costs I can expect for used or rebuilt. Thanks for any assist. time is of the essence. VIN last eight are 2735467

It is not that hard to replace the turbo on the XC70 but it will take some time. All you need is a good set of hand tools. When I did mine on my 850, I separated the cold side from the hot side so i could get to the bolts on the manifold easier. Where you going to swap it out with the same kind of turbo? If so, then leave the hot side connected and swap out the center and cold side as one unit. This would be a lot easier IMO.

Thanks Andrew. I've never even held a turbo so hot side cold side is new turf. I assume you mean splitting the turbo housing apart? Cooling side and exhaust side? Where can I get a technical procedure sheet on this R and R? I know I need to drop the angle gear housing to access a tough to reach bolt but I need procedure for pulling the pass side half shaft to drop the gear housing, etc. I usually do these kinds of jobs slowly so I have an idea of the sequence or reassembly but ashop manual would certainly help.

Default V70 XC AWD Turbo replacement procedure

Can someone please post the R and R procedure for the turbo on a 2002 T5?
The shop manual steps would be really helpful.
Many thanks - MGT

Let me see what I can find for you. Unfortunately, when I replaced my turbo, I was in a rush and did not have time to take pictures (it was very very cold out) so I did not make a how to. You can try doing a Google search and see what you can find. I know there has to be a how to somewhere because I think I saw it a couple years ago.

Andrew - Thanks, if you have a source for a shop manual I'd dive right into the job. Erie VoVo has the turbo and I have the tools and warm shop.
