My Volvo V70 came equipped with two lateral (back to front) roof rails - no crossbars. We have a Thule rack that we already have used on our 98 S70. I don't want to take off the factory rails to put on the Thule setup we already have. Is there a specific foot that I should use to affix the Thule crossbars to my V70's roof rails? (Yes, I checked on the Thule site, but their walkthrough didn't come up with a solution). My husband suggests that we take off the roof rails, but I don't want to do that. Please help!

 

You would need to remove the rails to attach the bars for the S70 on the V70. Otherwise, you would have to purchase a different set of thule rails that would work.

 

Isn't there a connector that attaches the cross-bars to the factory rails? I've seen some pictures on the internet that seem to show this setup.

 

I think it depends on exactly which thule rack you have. Would you mind posting a picture of it and the model number? This will make it easier for me to track down what you will need.

 

Thanks, Andrew, but I've found what I need: the Thule 450 feet. I'll probably wait until I get back from the trip at this point, though. The rack's on - the damage done. Sigh. Besides, I still have to budget for a remanu'd AWD shaft and whatever's making my check engine light go on. :-\
