Question 98 v70 need help

98 v70 2.4l non turbo 225k well maintained.

Changed water pump made sure timing was dead on. now after about 25 miles of driving its putting out black watery smoke upon acceleration and under load like going up hills and so on. checked a second and third time to make sure timing was dead on and it was. smoke has no smell, upon starting there is a overload smell of gas. car really hasn't had power since I got it and im second owner. when accelerating it loses all power and wants to die while putting out this black watery smoke but if you keep steady on gas pedal itll even out and drive normal. replaced fuel pump over a year ago with a used one without fuel mechanism. gas mileage was steady on highway around 24 to 25 mpgs. car sat over winter due to lack of funds and busted radiator, car froze due to extreme cold weather, but all of coolant system was replaced. no freeze out plugs were busted and no water leaks or water in the oil. code scanner by snapon reads only a bad 02 sensor on bank #1. please help or suggestion would be appreciated.

list of replacements and repairs:
water pump, radiator, heater core, thermostat, 02 sensor, all suspension components, oil antifreeze

was it running fine before the water pump/timing belt was done? Does it start up and idle ok? Almost sounds like the timing is retarded (as in late, not stupid...). Have you done any other tests? - I'd start with a compression test. If your timing were one tooth off, it would likely show up with low compression across the board and no change between wet/dry compression. After that, check fuel pressure at the rail.

Was the work prompted by overheating? If so, you may need a new headgasket. Is the car using coolant. Is there evidence of oil in coolant or coolant in the oil?
