My names Adrian and I recently purchased a 1998 Volvo V70 GLT. It has a 2.4 Turbo and I noticed that when the car idles the exhaust rattles underneath. When I looked under I saw the exhaust hanger is up against the frame. Its very annoying and I was wondering if there was a way to fix this without spending lots of money and damaging the exhaust setup. If anybody could please help me it would be greatly apperciated, thanks! I posted the pictures above so you could get a better idea.

 

I'm wondering if the muffler is on backwards. Is there a hanger on the other end?

 

I never checked. The top of that hanger is connected to the bottom of the car and is sort of rusted. My friend told me to just bend it away from the frame with a hammer

 

That was the advice that I was going to give as well. See if you can bend it a bit but not so far that it puts a bind on the rubber hanger.

 

So this afternoon I got a hammer and tried to bend it. Wouldnt budge. Might just take it to my nearest volvo dealer. Pay a fortune
