Default Blown HG on a N/A questions

so my HG blew on my N/A due do my negligence of a small leak on the plastic side of the radiator, went from a drippy drip to a bull blown leak. i found a local $500 sale of a turbo engine with harness, computer and trans.engine rebuilt and has 9x k miles.

Should i

1-buy engine and enjoy the power(please explain what need to be done in order to complete this swap)

2-Rebuild my engine for about 300?

If you want a turbo, buy a turbo. It is not cost effective or practical to try to convert a N/A car over to a turbo.

That leaves option 2 but $300.00 may be a fuzz light if you go through and do maintenance like replacing the water pump, rollers, timing belt, and tensioner. It is also a dandy time to replace all of the PCV components if the PCV hasn't been serviced.

I would think you need an ECU remap, but perhaps a guru can tell us all. I am having a low pressure turbo engine replaced now with an R model angine, and that needs an ECU remap, which Volvo dealership cannot do wothout my having dropped $850 for an IPD isoftloader tool and map. A 500 dollar engine? Wow. That is less than 1/2 the price of anything I could find. Having blown the headgasket on my motor, my thinking was that a higher mileage engine of the same variety might just blow its gasket the week after the swap, so.... I got away from the B5254 engine hoping the R model engine hold up. A 300 dollar repair? I'd have to assume you mean just buy a head gasket and do it yourself. Labor alone for that job if performed by a reliable mech would easily exceed that number by many hundreds of dollars.
