Default Center Driveshaft support bushing is Bad

Hello Everyone,

I just bought a 98 v70 and its in pretty good condition. The main issue is that when I had it up on a lift a few days ago the Center Driveshaft support was loose and you could see how the rubber of the bushing was ripped and separated. Does anyone know where to get a new one without having to go to the dealer ?

Thanks !

Just some food for thought... The dealership told me that the banging noise in the back was from a bad strut at first. It seems to only bang when the road is bumpy or a brake a bit quick. I see a lot of other threads that seem to have the same issue. I would check out that back Center Driveshaft support before replacing a lot of things first.

I have a OEM Volvo drive shaft Which I took out of my 98 AWD V 70 with very low miles on. I took the shaft out every spring and reinstalled before winter. I have no use for it because I got read of the car.

colorado driveshaft rebuilds them. they will send you a rebuilt one for i think around $575. put the old one in the box and send it back to redeem $75. it cost about half of what the dealer charges for a new one. if you live in an area where the awd is unnecessary, you could just remove the driveshaft and run it fwd. i live in vermont and it took only a week in the winter to decide i needed to order a rebuilt shaft. another thing you could try is removing the shaft and taking it to a machine shop to see if they could rebuild it.
