Chance to buy a used car, advice needed from a non Volvo owner
Hi Guys
just been offered a used car I have found on the internet
its going for £575
its a
R Reg 1998 VOLVO V70 2.5 XC AUTOMATIC ESTATE PETROL
MOT UNTIL JUNE 2014
TAX NOVEMBER 2013
147,788 MILES, FSH
BLACK LEATHER SEATS, ALLOYS WITH FAIRLY NEW TYRES
AIR CON NEEDS A RE GAS APPARENTLY
I have never owned a Volvo before, I am coming from an S Reg 1998 Vauxhall Omega CDX Estate 2.5 V6 Petrol, still use it daily, does 30mpg, but body is showing its age, rust on doors and wheel arches
the Volvo for sale has no rust
can anyone tell me how good these V70s are? or avoid like the plague?
are they quiet to drive? I do like "low cabin noise"

Read the owner revues on the link below. They are mixed and variable both ways.
1998 Volvo V70 Consumer Reviews
For 575 pounds you would obviously expect it to need a few things sorted.
Advise you get the fault codes read with an OBD11 reader before you buy. It will give you some idea of whats ahead.
Check out ATF fluid colour and if it smells a bit burnt. A drain and fill might be wise early on to keep the transmission up to scratch.
See when and if the cambelt, waterpump, tensioner etc have been done?
