Engine cuts out on steep switch backs
Hi
This is my first thread on this site. I usually hang out on the Alfabb.com in the 164 forum which has turned out to be a great bunch of guys that have help me with my Alfa.
My son has a 1998 v70 Cross Country that has 150K on the odometer and he is up in Utah.
He informed me that on two occasions the engine cut out on steep switch backs on a paved road at 7,000 feet altitude. The first time he had 2 gallons of fuel in the tank and the second time he had a full tank. He had to muscle the car around turns and the car restarted once on the flats.
The car was going downhill so I was wondering if it could be a fuel relay or fuel pump problem.
He stopped at a gas station and it happen again backing up. He called me and I suggested putting a fuel injection cleaner additive.
He drove back to Utah 600 miles on I 70 without out another incident.
Any suggestions on what could of caused the stalling?
Thanks in advance
