Default Failed the Smoke Test

I bought a 1999 V70 - NA, FWD - a couple of weeks ago. It has 137K on the clock and a stack of receipts from the dealer for service. While putting on a new serpentine belt and top motor mount this weekend I decided to do the "smoke test" for the PCV system.
It failed.
Not a torrent of smoke, but it is puffing out of the dipstick.
It had the flame trap replaced at the 60K service and at 102K it had a "PCV Service" according to the records.
I'm just going to order the kit from FCPEuro and plan on replacing/cleaning this weekend. My question for the wise members of the forum is this: Can I drive it back and forth to pick up the kids at school this week? 20 minutes either way, max, with the dipstick up to vent any excess pressure, without any severe risk of blowing out the RMS?
Thanks in advance
David

That would be fine. Me, I'd just wrap it loosely with some tape to keep out any big bits, but that's probably overkill.

Thanks - I figured as much just not interested in doing a RMS anytime soon so a bit extra paranoid.

All went well with the replacement. Bottom port was nearly completely blocked, which would explain the crankcase pressure. As a note to future self and to help others - ignore the Haynes manual "use a 17mm spanner" advice and get a quick connect kit from the local auto parts store to handle the fuel line disconnect.
