Have a 1998 v70 t5. Engine code p0243 the Engine Control Module (ECM) detected the turbocharger wastegate solenoid has an open or short circuit. Is the wastegate solenoid the same as the turbo control valve? If so can this be cleaned or any other trouble shooting before I replace the part? Thanks in adance I'm new to turbos

 

it is the same solenoid. It's an electrical error code, so if clean something, clean the electrical connections. Coincidentally, mine is not working either; I put a boost gauge on, so I had some indication exactly when it quit working. I have been too lazy to troubleshoot it.

 

Thanks. I just ordered the part and new hose. Will be installing a boost gauge when I replace it
