SRS reset
Hello all, I have recently purchased a Volvo V70 XC 99 with the SRS light on. I have been reading most of the day to find out what diagnostic tool I need to read/ reset this. I am getting all sorts of conflicting information. If someone could direct me to the lowest priced tool that does the job I would be greatly appreciated.
there are a few different models out there like the AutoLink AL629 or the iCarsoft 906 available on eBay/Amazon etc. The confusing part is what protocol your model/year requires (ie ISO9141 vs CANbus) so google around for which your car uses and then confirm whether the scanner model supports the SRS code set. Almost all scanners do the powertrain codes (ie Pxxxx) but you need a more expensive unit to read ABS, SRS and proprietary codes. Another option is to look for a VIDA set up on eBay (software plus cable). Finally, you can find a friendly local indy tech who will probably scan your car for free (mine will) where most dealers have a minimum 1 hour diagnostics charge). My guess is the required scanner will be in the 100-150 price range so that's a wash between paying a shop or DIY unless of course you want to have your own scanner. One other thing to check into is whether your car requires a tool to do service light (maintenance not CEL) resets. Some tools will do that as well.
Thank you.
I reached out to icarsoft's technical service and they said thei906 has limited support but the new release VOL V1.0 will work with my 99 v70 SRS. At 110 ill try that to see if it will give me what I need.
I intend to do some reading today and pursue the VIDA set-up once I have figured out what exactly I need there.
again thank you for your help

Add a search of SiRobb, who sells complete set-ups in England.
His name is Simon Robb and www.volvoforums.org.uk is where I've seen his posts and read people's thanks.
If I was over there I'd have a VIDA by now. I fear receiving a blank CD in a white envelope with no return address in the mail.
