Default Stuck in Park problem - A Clue?

I have just recently begun to experience the often-discussed "stuck in park" problem that required me to push the shift-lock override button to move the shifter. Over time, however, I discovered if I executed a sequence of steps to put the car in park, the problem did not occur. The sequence is as follows: (1) Stop the car, step on the brake and move shifter to Neutral. (2) turn off the ignition, (3) with car of,f hold button on shift **** and move shifter from Neutral to Park, (4) jiggle the key and remove. Does this sequence provide any clue as to what the cause of the shift-lock might be? Thanks for any replies.

Have you tried wiggling the key a little? The ignition tumbler mechanism wears out, and if you lightly move the key back slightly once the car has been started, it should come out of park. That's the problem when these cars won't shift out of park 99% of the time. Check this out: http://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/for...hp?f=1&t=67531
