Tranny leak...no clue where from - PLEASE HELP!
1992 240, 4spd auto
Tranny fluid is leaking from the passenger side of the tranny somewhere. It was doing this before I replaced the tranny gasket so I don't think that caused the problem. It is very weird.
Before I replaced the tranny gasket, I went around the pan and tightened all of the tranny bolts. Wiped fluid off the pan and off the passenger side of the tranny. It was 3 days, no leaks, then on the 4th day I come home from work and there is a puddle underneath the car. Probably 3in wide.
This past weekend I replaced the tranny gasket and re-filled the tranny (didn't over fill) and cranked the car up and drove it around and no leaks. It has been sitting in the driveway for 4 days again and I come home today and there is a puddle under the car. Same side, same scenario.
The only thing that has been done to the car other then what I have done is various seals on the tranny, o-rings, output shaft bushing repair, and the kickdown cable was replaced. I do not know how the cable is supposed to mount but the shop that replaced it has a big 'zip tie' trying to keep it straight. Can someone tell me how it is actually supposed to be attached? Can someone please tell me if this could be the source of my problem.
Your right if you're sitting there wondering if the car is running or not. It is just sitting there. The engine is not running.
Thanks in advance.

RE: Tranny leak...no clue where from - PLEASE HELP!
Thanks Tech. I'll look into that. I did notice a thin film of some pink stuff all around the boot on top of the solenoid. I was wondering what that was but now it makes sense that the previous owner probably tried to seal the leak and covered the boot with that pink sealant.
