Cool V70 '98 won't start

new [K miles] motor, great compression {now}, spark, doesn't even "pop". Timing marks right on.

?rumor? mismatch between the old engine's ECM and the one from the 'donor' car?

Saw other threads about CPS. Also see prices on line from $38-$193?
Will the scanner indicate a failure in a 'mismatch' or the CPS?

So much to learn. Wish I still had the 144 '69, I was at about 350,000 when I gave him away.

CAMshaft Position Sensor failure will cause a no start condition. Should also throw code. Ways of testing with multimeter as well.
