V70XC 5 speed swap
I just saw this post.
People will tend to not respond to these questions as they've never done anything like it.
It comes up all the time and the consensus is always to just sell the auto car/truck and buy a manual version. Granted, that's a lot tougher these days with far fewer manuals being produced. Add 23 and 24 MY of "tech rust" and you have a wide gulf of knowledge to fill.
I bet the ECUs of these vehicles do not come close to matching so Volvo factory couldn't even marry them into a vehicle.
You've got the problem of key/security systems mismatching plus all the other coding among parts. Processors in the '98 will seek info the '97 can't provide.
Swapping in new pedals will be a bear.
Over 16 years of V70 ownership I've passed on 2 manual versions and I still regret it.
