If it looks like this:

it's an emissions system light. Possibly a problem with the catalytic converter or fuel mixture.

It could be major, but it probably isn't. I've heard that most often they are caused by the fuel filler cap not being screwed on tightly enough, or leaking slightly and letting some air into the fuel system. Not a big deal. Second most common is a bad O2 sensor, which could be one of 2 in the car. These are usually $100-200 and can be installed by any garage. They can check the car's error codes to tell for sure.
For right now, I'd say just make sure the gas cap is tight and see if the light goes away in a couple days.

The Lamba light is the same as a check engine light but it wasn't used in US specification cars. The Canadian and European versions got the lambda light. It could be a big deal or not a big deal. Get the codes read and post them back. Many of the auto parts stores will scan the car for free but their printout tries to out think things and prints off a suggested, usually expensive, part that should be changed. What you need to get is the P code number. It is a code that starts with the letter P and is followed by 4 digits.
