'01 V70 T5 no boost?
Hey, maybe you guys can help me before i go to a mechanic. I was driving to Indianapolis the other weekend and it seems to me that the wagon does not have the oompf it used to. I did some very un-scientific tests (0-60 in 12 seconds, top speed about 96 mph). The car has 167k miles on it and as far as i know the TCV has never been replaced nor have any of the hoses stemming from it. I took out the TCV the other day and tried blowing air through it (with my mouth). Air will freely flow from the red to yellow line but NO airflow at all through the blue end. I have not been able to find on swedespeed or Matthew's volvo Site what the results should be. It feels like i get no boost at all. I don't have a boost gauge so i can't test it myself. I believe i either have a leak in one of the hoses or my TCV is failing. I have no engine codes and have been performing regular maintainance (synthetic oil, fluids, etc).
I have no idea if the turbo even spools.
My question is how can I test my TCV without a boost gauge? Any help at all would be very appreciated. I'm at a loss and i just want the car to get its pep back. Its a real dog right now.

Hey, I read this and I think mayby I have the same problem. Do you know how you solved this problem?
As for my troubleshooting, the lines were fine, no obvious leaks and if I remember right, we tried to blow into the TCV to see if it was stuck open or something and air did not pass through.
After replacing the turbo it was extremely obvious there was never any spooling let alone boost at all. Totally different car after.
I had never driven the car with boost so I never had a clue there was even an issue until I drove up a mountain range with cargo and it struggled very hard.
I'd probably take it to a mechanic. I used Kenny Jones in Louisville and it ended up being around $1,200 in 2017.
Indy roads broke the suspension in late 2018 and I couldn't afford to repair it as a student. I miss that car every day still.
Hi. Unfortunately I wasn't able to test the TCV in any meaningful way. I took the car to a local Volvo mechanic and as it turns out the turbo was completely seized. Probably had been since I bought the car from my dad a couple years prior.

It fixed itself when I disconnected the battery. Strange because the day it didn't work it did not work the whole day. Turning engine off and on didn't work too. But after few days after disconnecting the battery you can feel all the horses again.
