Recently worked on a V70 AWD with the 2.5 turbo motor. (T2) The car has not been well maintained, and showed a code for the catalytic converter and for the ETM. Replaced the converter with one from DEC (nicely made, but the face that mounts to the turbo had the upper bolt hole a bit off) and replaced the ETM with a used and warrantied one from Tom's. Cleared the codes, and everything worked fine and no codes.

Until a day or two later...

The owner reported the Check Engine light on again. The code was P0496 - EVAP SYSTEM HIGH PURGE FLOW DETECTED. I reset the computer once, and it came back on the next day. The gas cap seems to be tight.

A valve/solenoid (purge valve?) on the driver's front of the engine compartment (radiator support) has some damage to the green wire (wires are green and black) that might be caused by an animal chewing on it. I plan to repair the wire and clear the code again.

Any other suggestions? Should the valve be replaced? (once I know what it is...)
