Default 2001 V70: Ignition coil connectors?

The connectors for my ignition coils are all beat up, most have broken clips and are held in place with zip ties.

All I can find for my car are the plastic shells. None with pins.

Can I just pull the wires out of the existing connectors and pop them into new shells?

Does anyone sell shells with pins?

Why are there 4 billion different ignition connectors?

Thanks.

Yes, the wires can be removed from the housing. Easy when you know how to do it, but difficult to explain. Maybe there are some videos on various connector disassembly procedures.

The plastic connector has a part number on it. Look carefully and order five from the Volvo dealer.

By looking over the old and new connectors, you can see how to disengage the actual wires and pins that are attached to them. Do not cut/splice on this harness.

If you do end up splicing onto the loom (because you want to take out physically damaged sections of cable) then be sure to use a soldering iron rather than terminal block and use heat shrink to cover the joint (heat shrink is normally rated to 125 degrees c which is what the cables are rated to (120-140 degrees c) 70X Assortment Heat Shrink 1mm-5mm 2:1 Colourful Heatshrink Tubing Tube Sleeving | eBay
- you then should get some of the black plastic cable protection -material (I cant remember the name of the stuff - it's shown in this image - https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/fo...e.php?id=25087)

splicing near the spark plugs is not really a problem - the wires are quite easy to handle, you just need to do it properly rather than using tape or connectors).
I hope this helps,
P.
